    Dear Dr. Geivett,

After reviewing your Biola lecture “Miracles and the Modern Mind” and your argument from evil, I have been working to devise a similar type of argument.

    1. The universe displays highly complex design.

    2. The design in the universe implies a Designer (i. e., God).

    3. If there is a Designer for the universe, that Designer has a plan for the universe which reveals the Designer’s intent.

    4. Deviations from or violations of that plan are called evil.

    5. Evil exists.

    6. Therefore, God exists.

Each of the premises can be defended from general and special revelation.

I would appreciate any constructive critique you would be willing to give.

    Thank you,
    Mark Riser

Hey Doug! Thanks so much for the link to your slides! I found myself regurgitating some of your talk to my extended family yesterday. Then I smiled and said, “Hey, I actually remember some key points!” This means of course, that you are a very good teacher! My brother Zach was there. He said that he knows who you are, but he never took a class from you.

I SO enjoyed meeting you and being in the company of such great thinkers …and DEAR brothers in Christ. Thanks for letting me join ‘the club’ for a couple of hours. What a highlight!!! You are just as kind as Paul Copan 🙂
