Chuck Norris Endorses Newt Gingrich

I feel like I’m in good company when Chuck Norris endorses Newt Gingrich. Read his list of ten criteria for selecting the best candidate and why Newt is that candidate.

    After reviewing Mr. Norris’ points, I wonder why he doesn’t support Ron Paul. Check out his plan to restore America http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/ron-paul-plan-to-restore-america/ and tell me, Mr. Knight, why is Ron Paul’s plan a joke? Do you have anything more substantive?

    Chuck Norris doesn’t vote in primary elections, he decides them.

    I’d like to say that I pray that I haven’t upset Dr. Geivett with my previous comments, or by the comments that I leave today. My only interest is in having an open dialogue about the most pressing question of our day: “who is most qualified to lead America and the free world”.
    I will readily admit to being in a quandry over this question. It’s like playing The Price Is Right. Will I choose the door with the $300,000.00 vacation behind it, or will I choose a door that reveals a can of popcorn.

    I believe that ultimately, God chooses our leaders to further his redemptive plan (Romans 13:1). I believe that he turns the hearts of kings (Proverbs 21:1), and yet we still have a role to play in God’s plan. In my view, it’s a daunting role that we play, and so I pray that in the end, and after consulting his word and his will, we do well.

    I’ve read Mr. Norris’ list. It’s a list that asks good questions, but the answers don’t necessarily lead down the path to Newt Gingrich, as I imagine Mr. Norris hopes it will.

    Concerning #1
    Giving Gingrich the benefit of the doubt, I believe we can all agree that he won’t be governing in a vaccuum. If he want’s to get his program through Congess, he’s going to have to work with a lot of people from both political parties who don’t think the Constitution should be their first concern, or their last.
    Given the absolute fact that over the past 100 years Congress hasn’t spent a whole lot of time huddled around our Constitution, I don’t have a lot of faith that it’s going to begin now. I believe that we’ve had a lot of lip service for the benefit of the Tea Party.

    Concerning #2
    I would absolutely agree that Newt Gingrich is exciting to listen to. When you listen to him, you believe that there is hope once again for America. He must have read the Ronald Reagan how-to book for winning people’s hearts, because this guy has got it going on! I have no doub’t that Gingrich can win the primary, but we have a bigger question to answer; can he win the general election.
    In the general, there will be a lot of people who are put off by his nasty demeanor, the story behind his divorces, and the new allegations brought forward by Marianne Gingrich.
    For the record, I don’t believe Mrs. Gingrich #2; but even if her story is true, I believe that she got what she gave, what comes around, came around, and/or you reap what you sow.

    Concerning #3
    Hands down it’s Newt. Remember though, in the general he’ll be debating a Constitutional scholar(?) who has a whole different view of the Constitution and the history of America. The debates will be facinating, but the question that ultimately will need to be answered is: “what view of the Constitution and American history does the majoriy of Americans hold”.

    Concerning #4
    The answer to this question is: Newt, Rick Santorum, and probably Mitt Romney. Face it, any of these guys would do a better job on foreign policy than the guy who’s currently doing the job.

    Concerning #5
    I will concede to the fact that we are not electing a pastor or a pope. We are however electing the leader of America. This is an office that our forefather’s thought must be reserved for the best of the best in every way. Read Federalist #68 to get an idea of the type of man that our forefathers were looking for. We shouldn’t give in to this argument that because no one is perfect that we have to settle for less.
    Everyone that was on the debate stage Thursday night has more moral fortitude than does Newt Gingrich. Rick Santorum is still married to his wife of over twenty years. Mitt Romney has been married to his wife of forty-two years. Ron Paul has been married for fifty-six years.
    Newt, three marriages, two of the relationships were adulterous, and he left his first two wives when they needed him most; when they were sick. Are you listening Callista? If you get sick, chances are that Newt will boogie on you.
    I guess the question is this: do we want our leader to model a better way, or the worse that society can be? As Santorum has said, there is forgiveness with God, and we all need it, but character has to count for something.
    This is not a John 8:4 moment. Character must count! There are several passages in the NT where a person, although forgiven of sins, is still disqualified (e.g. see 1 Corinthians 9:27).

    Concerning #6
    In the debates Newt Gingrich will make mence meat out of Obama. This is the spectacle, to see Newt take our Marxist socialist president to the cleaners. I am giddy with delight at the prospect of seeing Newt and Obama going toe to toe in debates that would paint clear and contrasting pictures of the difference between the Conservative world view, and the Progressive, Socialist, Marxist world view. It would be like watching Christopher Hitchens and John Lennox debate the existence of God. Wow, I’m excited just thinking about it.
    Outside of the debates, I have serious concerns about Gingrich. There are a whole lot of people who don’t like Newt, and a whole lot more who will bristle when they finally do start paying attention to the race later this year. I don’t think he’s going to be a fan favorite among women.

    Concerning #7
    There are a lot of variables that have to be considered when asking this question. Let’s ask another one: of the four on the debate stage this past Thursday, who do you think is more likely to have an “it’s my way or the highway” attitude toward governing? Before answering, remember the government shut down in the mid 1990’s. I only bring this up because there are a lot of people who will be remembering the shut down on the first Tuesday in November.

    Concerning #8
    I’ve read Newt’s “21st. Century Contract with America”. It’s a bold plan, but in today’s political climate, it may be largely undoable. Mitt’s plan, and Santorum’s plan too seem largely undoable. Paul’s plan is a joke.

    Concerning #9
    In our current economy, I hate to say it, but Mitt Romney seems most prudent.

    Concerning #10
    I believe that both Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich can equally claim the title of most pro-life.
