Heads-up on iPhone’s Upcoming 4.0 Release

Summer is looming and so is Apple’s iPhone OS upgrade. iPhone 3GS and 3G users will benefit from the release of OS 4.0. I predict that, with this development, most of those still on the smart phone sidelines will now have no doubt about the superiority of the iPhone. There will be no contest.

Even Blackberry die-hards will begin to feel that they’re stuck with anachronistic technology. And corporate decision makers may force the issue once they see what they and their teams are missing if they don’t make the upgrade to iPhone.

I was persuaded of this today by an article at InfoWorld.com: “Apple stages corporate mobile takeover with iPhone OS 4.0,” by Galen Gruman. If you’re curious, check it out here.

One of the most welcome features of this upgrade will be the possibility of organizing apps into folders. Multi-tasking is another major addition to iPhone’s capability. (Caveat: some features introduced with this new OS will be available on 3GS phones only.)

One Response to Heads-up on iPhone’s Upcoming 4.0 Release

  1. Tim says:

    Doug,
Rumor-mill is churning about someone, likely a high level Apple employee, having recently left their prototype 4th-generation iPhone in a Bay Area bar. If this is actually something close to how it will be, this would make an iPhone purchase pretty tempting.
